Post christmas lethargybehind us a set of intrepid eejits headed from Carlin into the woods.
Peter, Barney, Colum, both Nialls, shane, adrian, the Philip Boyle and myself. Catherines Son was also out with us, but unfortunately broke his chain at the carpark and so was unable to participate.
A really good run with the fallen trees cleared and the gates open made for a fast fluid ride - although the wet and muddy conditions caused a few slips and slides. Colum punctured, and peter fixed whilst doling out amounts of abuse - and receiving considerably more in return. At the return point from audleystown peters light had packed in, due to a lack of charging, he accompanied by Colum headed along the road back. then back between the trees, I hit full speed only to realise the large black lake like thing in front was actually a lake, too late - in I ploughed with barney well over the shoes deep in cold (oh god so cold) water the rest then followed after ckecking that we did not disappear into the water too deep.
Under the bridge, Shane and Adrian headed off up the short way back, Barney, Nialls and I headed on down along an up through the field, and eventally up the tracks we followed down. Barney punctured at the top of the 47 sisters as he calls them. 10 minutes later onward and back, unfortunately barneys puncture had not left us and he ran with the bike back.
Finished with about 16miles of forest trails and 22 miles total for Bigfoot and myself cycling over and back.
Good run and a lot of exercise for january, but sure what else would you do on the dark winters evening...
