GIRL PAYOUT AT RISK OVER HIGH-VIS JACKET Insurers are fighting a payout of up to £5million to a schoolgirl because she was not wearing a high-visibility jacket when she was run over. She was 13 when she suffered brain damage after being hit on an unlit road walking home after horse riding. She can barely walk and needs a support worker. Her mother had to sell their home and give up her job to provide 24hour care for her daughter who is now 16. The high court cleared the girl of contributory neglicience and held drivers insuranvce, Churchill, liable. However Churchill appealed claiming the girl should have been wearing reflective clothing as a horse rider. Her mother said 'Ithgink their appeal is a disgrace. Our lives have all been ruined' Be warned folks! Substitute the word 'horse' for 'Bike!!'
