The 'B group' proved to have a successful turn out this morning, with 12 keen cyclists ready to hit the road. Joanna, Briege, Mairead, Dessie, Dylan, Marty Cardwell, Johnny, Margaret, Tracey, Molly-Anne and Myself headed off at 9.30am.
Of course, to start off the run, a typical dose of Irish weather hit us all hard, bringing out all those yellow coats within the group! Thankfully, this didn't last long and the sun gradually began to make an appearance.
The pace seemed to suit everyone in the group on the way to Newcastle and the route was very enjoyable. We stopped in 'The Strand' for a bite to eat which was also very nice and well deserved after the harsh weather earlier that morning! After me near breaking my neck on stairs whilst leaving the restaurant, it was time to get back on to the saddle!
Fortunately, the wind was on our backs on the way home, making it slightly easier. Everyone climbed well up the hills outside of Maghera with Dessie and his son Bradley wiggo testing each others ability . The tandem team shortly followed, storming up the hill with the help of a few Haribos from Miss Molly!
Then it was back to Brennans via seaforde . I must say, i was really impressed how well the group worked together today, and despite the weather, it was very enjoyable with the usual craic on a typical Sunday Cycle!
I hope to see everyone and maybe more back next Sunday, where we are planning a slightly different route which will be less hilly but a wee bit more distance. Please see route below. We will be stopping in Castillo's Coffee shop in Killough.
Well done everyone and see you all soon
