Possible route. New area and new coffee stop. Up to Hillsborough and then cross over to area around and through the Royal Down/Maze racetrack. Have been to golf club in middle of course and they can give us our own room for coffee and scones. Its a public course so its very relaxed there and not too formal. About a 50 mile round trip and at least 3500 of ascent , about same as LaMon run. All along country lanes and good views out over Lisburn and Belfast. Have provisionally agreed with golf club but need to confirm tomorrow night. Just a bit worried about weather which a present looks dry but winds of around 20+ predicted with gusts up to 40 mph, so not sure whether an easier run might be more suitable. Any views gratefully received connect.garmin.com/course/5044270

Weather forecast seems to have got slightly worse. Average 25 mph winds up to 45 mph gusts with very heavy showers. Like to do new runs on good weather days so they can be appreciated better, and it will be a real slog with big crosswinds. As I have to give advance notice to café, I think I will suggest it again on a better day. Maybe up Castle Espie via Carsonstown which is a more sheltered and easier route ?

We may have been the A group going over to Castle Espie but we were more like the N for Noddy group on the way back ..we were all over the place with very strong winds blasting us from every angle. We headed back via killinchy ,Kilmood , lisbane ,Raffery and on to crossgar where Michael O split for home while sammy Marty and brian rewarded themselves with high tea back at base whilst John , myself and peter disney headed for the Quoile (!) and homewards. Mind you we all were still enjoying the jokes that were flying around the coffee table when Joe and Tracey got lost ....Well done to new recruits as that was a tough ride home .
