There was a turnout of seven representing the B Group on Sunday morning. We had the usual Northern Ireland weather for this time of year. The morning started of wet and windy but the weather really improved and it actually turned out a nice day.
Myself, Tracey, Molly-Anne, Catherine, Marty Cardwell, John & Johnny Graham decided to join the A group as they were going to Castle Espie via one of Max's scenic routes.
We had a bit of drama as usual and this time Catherine's bike fell of the car while she was driving to Brennan's. When she arrived at Brennan's on first inspection the only damage was a badly buckled back wheel. I would say she was very lucky
After sorting out Catherine bike we all headed of towards Castle Espie. Checking on Catherine we could see all was not well as her seat was pointing upwards at a strange angle and also about 6 cm's too high. With a bit of help from Fergus Rooney we did a few adjustments and that brought a ;D from Catherine and on we went.
As usual it was one of Max's flat routes, I don't need to say anymore but with a bit of help from iron-man Fergus we got up the hills.
When we arrived at Castle Espie we discovered Joe and Tracey had gone missing, anyway 40 minutes later they turned up and Joe ordered a large plate of sausages and chips. Joe said that would be the last time he would listen to a woman giving directions
I would like to thank Shane, Niall, Max and Trevor for staying with the B Group and helping out. The only problem now is that Tracey says she is not coming out again unless Shane cycles on front of her all the time. What does she mean Shane?
Well Done to Marty Cardwell, and John Graham who put in a strong cycle and should really be moving on to the A group. John was all pleased that some of his old Ulster Bus bus mates were in the club. A small world as they would say!
Johnny Graham made the big mistake of deciding to try and chase after Fergus Rooney with the idea of joining him on the return cycle to Brennan's. Johnny reckons that Fergus Rooney's bike is fitted with an engine or some type of nitro injection system. When he eventually caught Fergus he discovered Fergus was going home and not to Brennan's
Well Done to Catherine who showed she has true grit and determination.
I think the we done around 42 miles, Max could maybe confirm the elevation and miles.
A special thanks to Max for staying with us and guiding us home. I know Max, it was a hard cycle and much faster pace than you are used to with the A Group
Will Post details for next Sunday soon.
