We are planning for B,s to go out West this week. Clonvaraghan. Leitrim, Rowans Hill (just short of Ballyroney), Lough Island Reavy Reservoir and back to Hillyard for coffee. Along quiet roads but hopefully keeping away from tight muddy roads. Great views across to Mournes and reservoir. Bit undulating going to Leitrim but overall about 34 miles and around 2500 feet climbing so not too difficult. Plan to be at Hillyard around 11.45 ( 24 miles) so maybe those wanting to go faster and further might want to meet us there. Anyway let me know at Brennans if you plan to go there and I can ring and order the correct number of scones. connect.garmin.com/course/5158599

I'll be there Max, sounds hilly but I've got to face it sooner or later.

Theme of the day Wet, Wet, Wet. Decided to postpone going up into the cloud and mist around Castlewellan, so there are 25 scones that I pre-ordered that have gone into the Hillyard freezer for us to consume on the next good weather Sunday. Amazingly 19 turned up. Ralph, Joe, Pat, Shane, Coby, Robin, Molly Anne, Tracey, Marty, Sammy, Brian, Ollie, Gavin and Joanne who departed en-route, myself and no less than 4 Johns (seem to be missing out on our quota of Paddies). Keeping it simple we went via Ballykinler to Ardglass. Molly Anne hung her socks up to dry on the café ceiling, creating a new concept for Xmas decorations. Topic of the day " my waterproof gloves/socks /coat/overshoes are absolutely rubbish". Back via Killough, Marshallstown(ie Ballynoe X-roads) , Ballyduggan, finishing to the strains of "I'm singing in the rain". Did not have Garmin on but about 35 miles, 1800 feet climb, 10 inches of rain. Actually quite good fun in a masochistic kind of way. Expect MTB boys have disappeared into the mud.

the m squad, as in m for muck, headed to Ormeau park for the cyclocross racing. Colum, Barney, Peter, Bigfoot and myself registered for the MTB support race along with another 40 odd mad individuals. muck, mud and slippery roots. After the 5,6,7 laps we were all knackered, soaked and caked in a load of mud, Peter and Colum took some photos which you can all laugh at later. We all had a great time, as a change from the road on a rather poor cycling day.
