New route available if desired. New Line Rd, Drumaroad, Ballywillwill, Leitrim rd but left turn up Clarkhill rd to other side of valley, Macartans rd and then west to Ballyroney. Then loop and back east via Lough Island Reavy Reservoir and up to Hillyard Hotel cafe Castlewellan for coffee. All quiet country roads with great views of Mournes in many places. 31 miles Brennans to Castlewellan and then do your own thing to get home. Lots of ups and a few downs but no killer hills. Not suitable if there is a heavy frost. connect.garmin.com/course/2921437

Did the run to Lough Island Reavy with Dermot today to test out suitability and safety. Quiet roads with good views , undulating but not too hilly. Manager at Hillyard House will give us our own room and bike park area and will set up scones etc but need to confirm with him by 9.30 on Sunday morning as to whether we will be going.

Thanks for comments. I am away most of this week, so it will be two or three weeks before I can offer to inflict some more "undulations" upon you.

Just to add my thanks to Max for a great run out yesterday on roads of my home county that I have never been before with great scenery and a swift coffee break. As for Colum Turley and his mechanical breakdown apparently it took him donkeys to get home...you would have to have been there to get that one! Another great day out .

Thank you Max for the route. For what little of it i got completed it was very enjoyable! Thanks also to the 2 donkeys who pushed me for the 50 odd yards or so, if they were friends at all they would have at least pushed me to Castlewellan for the pit stop!!
