at Carlin carpark a set of adventurous (mad) souls met, Adrian, Barney, Kieran (Fitzy), Gavin, Peter Niall McK and myself met up, we reckon some where about 0 - 2C. A great spin around Mallard, and then onto the tracks proper, bit of lying water, and the odd slippy corner but better than I expected. I reckon it was 15 miles around the forest, with 6 miles for me extra (in and out). Gavin I believ came off and Fitzy decided to go through a tree rather than round it - lest it be said, the tree won, and fitzy headed off into the undergrowth. He was fine on the night, but we expect him to feel it today.
On way back all our feet really suffered, but Barneys in particular seemed to have the start of frostbite with him doing a rather peculiar "daddy dance" to warm up the feet. Britains got talent has nothing to fear.
back round to start point - over the temple water causway to snot tunnel (as we now renamed it) up to gatehouse where adrian, Gavin and Peter headed on home, and the rest of us braved the cold for a little while longer.
Grand night, cold but dry, perhaps the start of a weather improvement. Will be nice to see the daylight soon and have double digit weather....... dreaming again.
