Great run today and another super effort from Max researching this route which had plenty of knee crackin hills to test us and fantastic views.
However the highlight of the day for me was the teamwork shown again when Mr Bohills raw power ripped its derailleur from the frame. Our resident engineers Sam Kane and Mr Heasley showed that never give up determination to solve the problem( although Peter wanted to ring a taxi) , while the rest of us were entertained by the Ollie and Johnny comedy show, eventually converting Peters bike to a fixie, which as far as I know he powered all the way home. A great example of the fantastic spirit we have and have always had at our very special club.
Great to see so many out on the road again. Good to see Jock out with us regularly now and Catherine, Hayley and Tracey showing the hard work and miles put in over the winter as they zipped along at great speed. Fair play to Mr Flynn who is going really well and showing rare determination to get himself toned for the chain-reaction run in a few weeks.
Particularly enjoyed my chat with Damien Rogan who I hope can continue his comeback. After we fixed his double puncture on Mill hill just after our coffee we had a lazy ride back to Brennans talking about the old times. I recounted the occasion years ago when I had only started cycling and he was riding like Sean Kelly. We were on the return journey from sligo I think and I was in the red trying to hang in with a bunch of about forty hoping to be pulled up the next hundred miles when I got a blowout. Damien pulled out of the bunch, helped me fix the puncture knew I was struggling, gave me the pep talk and pulled me fifty miles up the road doing all the work. Measure of the man that.
We were passing Gerrys house admiring that annoyingly perfect garden. All I'll say Gerry is Cow-pats ??
lookin forwad to my next mystery tour Max?
