Rather more testing route this week. Some new roads and spectacular scenery Clonvaraghan Bannanstown Rd Kilcoo Square Foffanney Trassey Rd Hillyard A few stingers but there are short cuts back to Hillyard along flat roads for those who are getting tired or just had enough so suitable for all. Olly will hopefully be there to guide the As and have devised an extra loop for them so we should all get back at Hillyard around the same time. About 38 miles Brennans to Brennans for Bs with about 3500 feet climbing and around 4000 feet for A's and about 44 miles connect.garmin.com/course/6907989 except route starts at Brennans and not Spa as shown on route

First of all I and I am sure everyone else wishes Peter Disney a speedy recovery from his accident today just outside Bryansford. Having seen the pictures it certainly shows the importance of wearing a helmet. So we look forward to seeing him out again as soon as possible. There were about 30 out at Brennans and we split into two groups early on with Olly guiding the As and me the B,s with a fairly equal split in the numbers. Went up Oldbridge road hill and then up the very gruelling Bannanstown Rd hill to a lovely view point. The language in my group was a bit choice at this point mainly concerning thoughts about the much maligned English and the their choice of routes. All I can do is to repeat the words of our great international footballer and say " I am sorry" though I am not really. Then down to Kilcoo Square and a couple of stingers going up the Foffanney school road. B,s took Trassey road , Burren Bridge and back to Hillyard for coffee in the sun. A,s went back up Spelga down S bends and started to loop back to Trassey where they had the very unfortunate accident and so we did not all meet at Hillyard. It was a lovely day in the sun with great views and hard work done. 3600 feet ascent and 38 miles on clock for me Hope new boy Steve enjoyed himself. Peter's accident did however cast a big shadow on the day.
