Suggesting this Sunday we might do the run across on the Ards. Similar route to last year along lovely country lanes and around the coast and keeping off the main road. Depends on a good day. If we are going to do it , suggest 10 am ferry from Strangford as last year. I would park and start from Quoile car park by the lake and leave at 9.10 prompt to allow for a puncture, so anyone wanting to do that we could go together. Otherwise meet at the ferry for the 10 am sail. Think the 9.30 is a bit early. The distance is 46 miles Quoile to Quoile with about 32 miles on the Ards. Should be back on the 12.45 ferry getting to strangford at 1 pm otherwise 30 minutes later. Can take coffee at Portaferry or Strangford on return. connect.garmin.com/modern/course/3940252 Any takers ? Its also the flattest route of the year apart from Doctors Hill !!

Unfortunately weather forecast has deteriorated for Sunday. Suggest we still meet as arranged and go round coast or up to Daft eddies if weather is poor.

About 30 out joining at Quoile or Strangford. Debated a shorter route along lanes to ardglass but decided to chance weather and go over to Ards. Along coast and then over very quiet lanes in different countryside to normal. Mainly arable farming as opposed to dairy and rather softer than the hills near the Mournes. Quite a big difference in cycling experience and ability today but managed to keep everyone together at a steady pace. Split into two groups after a while and unfortunately Paul Ireland's saddle broke and he had to cycle without a saddle. Some unkind person suggested he should just vaseline the stem and he could just sit down again and enjoy the ride. Quicker group went back on earlier ferry and slower group plus Paul's support group took later ferry. Coffee taken at Portaferry or Strangford depending on group and then back home in differing groups. Weather fine for most of journey but heavy showers towards end so on balance weather ok and a good day out. Well done Monica Bailie, first time out and kept up very well. Quoile to Quoile 46 miles and 1800 feet. Might do something tougher next week to build up for Carlingford !! Good to see ralph out again
