Have decided to postpone Carlingford to next year as a number of people away this weekend and Slieve Gullion weather forecast is grey and cold. Will give £20s back and probably keep it simpler with no bus next time which keeps things more flexible to grab a good weather weekend when it comes.
So this week a fairly easy route with a few medium grade hills. Out to Leitrim Loughisland Reavy looping around some new lanes via Cabragh and Roughan Bridge to Ballyroney and back along Lackan Road. About 43 miles Brennans to Brennans and around 2800 feet climbing and ok for all connect.garmin.com/modern/course/7921315
Advance warning for next week the 21st september. I am proposing a real bruiser going down to Rostrevor. Suggesting a start at 9.30 in Castlewellan and not Brennans. It will be about 40 miles Castlewellan to castlewellan. There will be a couple of long and severe hills along country lanes and some fast main roads down to Hilltown and back. Definitely Black Route, so it is not suitable for those who do not wish to climb very tough hills and also those uncomfortable with a fairly brisk pace in a peloton. I would suggest those not wishing to do run start as normal at Brennans with an easier route. Let me know if you want to do Rostrevor by email, this site or verbally this weekend so I can see whether sufficient numbers want to do it. Only doing it on a dry day.
