Proposing a route for Sunday for which I have been awaiting a really sunny day. This goes to Scrabo Tower. Saintfield Lisnasallagh Gilnahirk Ballyrussell Scrabo Coffee Castle Espie Then back home along which ever route you want but mine shows Lisbane Kilmood Ballymacashen Raffrey which is less used route than Whiterock darragh cross and Derryboye routes home. Cycled route last week with Dermot and my son and Route is along very quiet and beautiful country lanes and less hilly than last week. Bit of a pull up final 200 yards to Tower but you can walk it if you want and the views are great. 52 miles Brennans to Brennans 28 miles to Tower 34 miles to Espie

I think I'll give it another go & sure if I'm struggling I can turn off any time. Though I'd prefer if no one holds back for me, I feel bad when I hold someone back & I think it puts me under more pressure.

Don't worry Dessie If we do Scrabo we will take it steadily and wait at crossroads. If you are feeling the strain, there are direct shorter routes to Castle Espie Cafe which I can show you and you can meet up there for coffee with everyone. On the way back we would normally break up into smaller groups to go home and there would be slower groups to go with.

About 20 at Brennans, small group went around coast and rest off to Scrabo along flower filled lanes. Gorgeous weather and even trip into Belfast would have been good. Stiff 16% climb to top and then 20%+ but man said no further cycling allowed so got off bike and walked without shame. Went up tower for fantastic views. Castle Espie for coffee and then back with people peeling off for home. Who would live anywhere else in the World if weather was always like this.

Cheers Max, great route - not much of a clue as to how we reached Scrabo, but one of the best runs in a long time. had the earlier run with Colum, Peter and Barney, and then went back from Lisbane with Dylan and John Mills, 84 miles in legs by end.
Well done to everyone there seems to be a lot of climbing in many small inclines, any one got garmin stats on it.

My Garmin lost reception for a bit but I estimate we did close to 4000 feet of climbing so it accumulated up. Well done the Damian and Hayley dynamic duo.

Great day out yesterday. The route, company and weather were great, as was the view from the top of Scrabo Tower. Garmin link below: connect.garmin.com/activity/325172322Just over 5000ft of climbing, and 77 miles on the clock when I got home. Some photos on Facebook from Marty also.
