This weekend three club members,Rodger,Brian and myself done the Belfast-Dublin-Belfast maracycle, 220miles in total in two days.Saturday morning we set of from Queens sports ground out by Lisburn ,Moria ,Bandbridge, Scarva ,Newry Camlough,Dundalk and Castlebellingham ,where we had lunch. We all agreed to go at our own pace, with Brian up with the leaders, then myself at bit behind and Rodger not far behind that. The weather was good with a fair we breeze in our face.We all made good progress and met many other cyclists from clubs the length and breath of Ireland, crack was good and the miles flew in,after lunch we headed for Dunleer, Donore, Duleek, Garrisson, Ardcath and on into Dublin. All got there safe and well,Brian about 20mins before me and then Rodger a wee bit behind that. We had a great evening eating and dining and rehydrating, meeting many other cyclists and having a great nights crack with fellow cyclists,Lee Patterson and Gavin McConvey among the people we met. Sunday morning up bright and early, well fed ,we set of for home ,just the reverse of the previous day with the breeze in our favour this time.Brian headed of with a good group of fast cyclists and was not seen to the finish, followed by myself and then Rodger not far behind,We had rain from Scarva to Moira and got a bit wet,but we soon dried out,all home safe and sound,Rodger and Brian found the return journey easier than the first day ,I must say I did not as I found the second day harder, maybe it had something to do with the sore backside i developed after the first day as I found it hard to sit down on the saddle on the second day.Brian had his fastest day on the second day and I think his best ever time.Well done to him and Rodger and I must say thanks to them for a very enjoyable weekend
